Stage 3 Learning Activities
|
|
Writing (older
elementary): Give students an assignment to create a story about a
character in their life in the first person including feelings. Provide
graphic organizer to organize their thoughts. Provide guidelines to
beginning, middle and end a story. Have students pair up and read each
others stories to provide feedback regarding interest, clarity and language
choice. Provide rubric with comments section for students to self evaluate
and understand teachers expectation.
Reading (older
elementary): Before introducing a new story, use LEC to talk about topics
that the story brings up and see students prior knowledge and experience.
Allow students to read story quietly while filling in KWL. Have a class
discussion about the story….their thoughts, ideas and opinions. Ensure that
they back up their ideas. In an effort to reach other learners, provide the
story in a recording and allow students to draw the sequence of events with
thought bubbles in comic form.
